Donna Maxine Knapp

Donna Maxine Knapp (nee Vasold) died peacefully in Largo, Florida on July 24th, 2018 at the age of 93. Donna is survived by two daughter and one son: Dawn and her husband Jack Haenlein Jr. of Florida; Wendy Garzella of Michigan; James Knapp of Pennsylvania. Seven grandchildren Jack and Lorie Haenlein, AnJynet and Michael Elliot, Dan Garzella, Carly and Matt Crews, Allison Garzella, John Knapp, and Madilynn Knapp, and 10 great-grandchildren Kimberly, Sara, Lexi Haenlien; Lily, Ivy, and Catherine Elliot; Rocco Garzella, Hunter, Tucker, and Harper Crews, and her special cousin Gert Burns. She is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Walter John Knapp; son, Vance John Knapp; and her brother Samuel Vasold. Donna was born on March 22, 1925 in Saginaw, Michigan to Henry and Gertrude Vasold. She graduated from Arthur Hill School in Saginaw, Michigan and married Walt Knapp. She loved her family. At age 93 she had a sharp mind and active social life including her boyfriend Fred Storck She worked for Michigan, Cleveland, Pennsylvania Bell/Verizon as the administrative assistant retiring after 34 years of service. She taught us all poise and grace, and how to treat others. She was a "class act" and consistent role model. We will miss you Mother and Grams. You will be forever in our hearts. We love you. Funeral Liturgy will take place at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 4, 2018 at St. Dominic Parish, SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 4735 W. Michigan Ave. Fr. William Taylor will officiate with burial to follow at Vasold Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Saturday at church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral liturgy.
