David M. Gilbert

David M. Gilbert Bridgeport, Michigan Passed away Thursday, January 5, 2017, at Covenant-Cooper at the age of 64 years. Dave was born October 11, 1952, in Saginaw the son of the late Jack and Bonnie (Voelker) Gilbert. He married Pamela Schattilly on May 14, 1983; she survives him. They were married at Faith Lutheran in Bridgeport and continue to be members there. He retired from General Motors in 2010. He belonged the Bridgeport Gun Club and the National Rifle Association. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and gardner. Besides his wife Pamela he will be missed by his son, Brian (Beth) Gilbert; grandson Jacob Gilbert; brother, Daniel (Carla) Gilbert; nephews, Zach and Luke (Trista) Gilbert, and John Hammer, Seth Nichols; niece, Maisie (Brandon) Hoffman; mother-in-law, June Schattilly; brother-in-law, Mike Nichols; sister-in-law, Mary Lou Schattilly; aunt and godmother, Betty Priest; aunt, Margaret Gilbert; his best hunting buddy, Martin Moritz Jr.; and many cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his sister Bethany Nichols; and father-in-law, Charles R. Schattilly. According to his wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 12:00 noon Tuesday, January 10, 2017, at Faith Lutheran Church 4241 Williamson. Rev. William Hessler will officiate the service. Friends may visit with the family at church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to Faith Lutheran Church in Bridgeport.
