David "Dave" Clestin Minnick of Merril, Michigan

Beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at Medilodge of Mt. Pleasant. He was 78 years old. David Clestin Minnick was born on June 11, 1943, in St. Charles, Michigan, to the late Clestin and Chiristine (Richter) Minnick. He was a proud 1961graduate of St. Charles High School. Dave met the first love of his life, Grace Roberts, while roller skating at the roller rink in Merrill, Michigan. They dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on October 13, 1962; she preceded him in death on September 4, 1975. Dave met the second love of his life, Connie Cae Wolfgang, while attending Merrill Wesleyan Church. They were united in marriage on March 12, 1976; she preceded him in death on September 21, 2021. He was a longtime and faithful member of the Merrill Wesleyan Church. David was employed with the Dow Corning Company as a master electrician, retiring after many years of loyal and dedicated service. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling across the U.S. Dave also enjoyed playing and coaching for the church softball team. He had a brilliant, wise, and intricately detailed mind and used this talent to fix up homes as well as to help his children with remodeling projects. Dave will forever be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, for his excellent ability to communicate and connect with all people, and for his selflessness to those he loved.

Surviving are four sons and a daughter: Jeff (Lynn) Minnick of Brant; Scott (Elynn) Minnick of Alma; Janet (Ed) Harless of Fort Wayne, IN; Mike (Mary) Wolfgang of Auburn; Jerry Wolfgang of Merrill; eight grandchildren: Travis (Megan) Minnick, Amanda (Trevor) Reis, Tyler Minnick and his fiancée, Amiee Taylor, Hawke (Trisha) Grover, Dane (Erica) Grover, Samantha (Eric) Savage, Savana Harless, and Emily Wolfgang.; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Dawn Miller and Kathy Minnick. Also surviving are many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Ellen Tithof.

Honoring Dave's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 6, 2022, at Merrill Wesleyan Church, 3765 N. Chapin Road, Merrill. Pastor Tim Morris and Brad Harris will co-officiate. All are welcome to visit with the family at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Merrill Wesleyan Church or Merrill Public Library.
