Connie Cae Minnick of Merrill, Michigan

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at Covenant HealthCare -Harrison. She was 80 years old. Connie Cae Schultz was born on July 22, 1941, in Saginaw, Michigan, to the late Arnold and Helen (Glenke) Schultz. She was a proud 1959 graduate of Merrill High School. Connie met the love of her life, David Clestin Minnick, while attending the Merrill Wesleyan Church. They dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on March 12, 1976; he survives her. Connie was a longtime employee with Chemical Bank where she serving various capacities, her favorite being an employee trainer, and retired in 2002. Connie was a woman of deep faith and devoted member of Merrill Wesleyan Church. She actively served the church as the secretary and created the “Joy Bells” a class for young children. She also had a great love for the Lakefield Wesleyan Church, her mother’s home church, often volunteering her time, talent and treasure. Upon retirement, Connie and David moved to Grayling and she created the Grayling Chapter of the Red Hat Society and a Joy Bells Group at the Michelson Memorial Methodist Church. Connie’s mother started a tradition that Connie carried throughout her life, making baby blankets for the community. She enjoyed shopping, especially browsing through thrift stores trying to find the best deals. Above all, Connie loved and cherished her husband, children, grandchildren, and the many tea parties held with her granddaughters. She will forever be remembered for her faithfulness, family gatherings, and for her generosity to family, friends, or those in need.

Surviving are her husband, David C. Minnick of Merrill; four sons and a daughter, Mike (Mary) Wolfgang of Auburn; Jerry Wolfgang of Merrill; Jeff (Lynn) Minnick of Marion Springs; Scott (Elynn) Minnick of Elwell; Janet (Ed) Harless of Fort Wayne, IN; eight grandchildren: Travis (Megan) Minnick, Samantha (Eric) Savage, Amanda (Trevor) Reis, Dane (Erica) Grover, Hawk (Trisha) Grover, Tyler Minnick, Savana Harless, and Emily Wolfgang; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers and one sister, Charles (Pat) Schultz of Jackson; Carole (Tom) Knowlton of Hudson; Tom (Julee) Schultz of Whittemore Lake. Also surviving are many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and dear friends, especially Tammy Swinson for all the love, kindness, and support she provided to Connie and the family.

A funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 1, 2021, at the Merrill Wesleyan Church, 3765 N. Chapin Road, Merrill. Pastor Tim Morris and Brad Harris will co-officiate. Following Connie’s wishes cremation will follow. All are welcome to visit with the family at the W. L. Case & Company Funeral Chapel, 125 E. Saginaw Street, Merrill, on Thursday, September 30, 2021, from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Merrill Wesleyan Church or the Merrill Public Library.
