Clintena Mills

Clintena A. Mills, beloved wife and widow of Arnold L. Mills, passed quietly in Hospice on January 9, following a short illness. She is survived by her children and their spouses, James and Janice Mills, Clinton and Vickie Mills, Sandra (Mills) and David Gerken, and Timothy Mills and Wendy Kareus, of Michigan, and Linda (Mills) Riesgo of Florida; and Grandsons John W. Combs, III, and Ryan and Jeremy Kareus, and Granddaughters Stephanie Mills and Janet (Kareus) Blackall, and Great Grandson Jayce Mills, and as well as several step-great grandchildren. Mrs. Mills was born in Cheboygan and moved to Saginaw in her teens, graduating from Arthur Hill High School. She Married Arnold L. Mills on July 5, 1945. He became a Saginaw Fire Fighter and she was the homemaker. She was a Cub Scout leader for two sons' troops, sewed, and sold Avon, and dearly loved being a mother and a wife. In 1978, she and Arnold retired to Sugar Springs in Gladwin, Michigan, where Clintena managed the Recreation Committee's weekly Euchre games and she and Arnold became avid Square Dancers. They returned to Saginaw when Arnold's health failed, and following his death in 2004 and her own illness in 2006, Clintena went to Florida to recuperate and decided to stay in the warm weather. She resided with her daughter in Palm Beach Gardens and eventually moved to a local nursing home where she participated in and enjoyed all available activitiesgames and crafts and guest entertainment, etc. She attended church regularly and was elected President of the Residents' Council by her fellow residents. She demurred but was approached by the management of the nursing home who urged her to please accept the responsibility, at which time she agreed. She was well loved by the staff and her co-residents for her sunny, sweet and helpful disposition. She is missed greatly by those who knew and loved her . A private memorial for immediate family will occur at a future date. Memorial contributions may be made to any hospice in Michigan or Florida. www.casefuneralhome.com
