Cathy J. Dougherty

Passed away at her home surrounded by her family on March 29, 2018 at the age of 70 years. The daughter of the late George Nachtweih and Margaret (Roesler) Kabobel was born on June 10, 1947 in Saginaw. She was part of the first graduating class of Douglas MacArthur High School, the class of 1965. She married Bernie Dougherty on December 27, 1989; he predeceased her on April 9, 2009. Cathy retired from Saginaw Steering Gear after 29 years of service. She was a charter member of Resurrection Lutheran Church and a Golden Age member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles. Cathy enjoyed time spent with family and friends. Surviving are her children: Stephanie (Gardner) Gordon, Matthew (Rachel) Gardner, step-children: Tina (John) Irwin, Tamara Dougherty, grandchildren: Jeremy Gordon, Jacob Gordon, Brenden Gardner, step-grandchildren: Emma Irwin, Sam Irwin, her siblings: Larry (Trish) Nachtweih, Rick (Sue) Miller, Fay (Paul) Sudhoff, Edward (Kathy) Kabobel, Jr., many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends, including her close friend and father of her children, Ronald Gardner, and her dear friend Deeanne Manntz. Besides her parents and husband, Cathy was predeceased by two step-fathers: Ronald Miller and Edward Kabobel, her siblings: Donna Persons, Michael Nachtweih, Marlene Tornberg, and sister-in-law Sheryl Nachtweih. In accordance with Cathys wishes, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
