Carolyn C. Thom

Thom, Carolyn C. St. Charles, MI Our beloved, mother, grandmother, and special friend went home to be with the Angels on March 28, 2016 at the age of 68 years. The daughter of the late Catherine L. (McCormick) and Thomas P. Smith was born on June 28, 1947 in Detroit, MI. She married Billie L. Thom; he predeceased her in 1988. Carolyn was a faithful member of St. John XXIII Parish, St. Mary Catholic Church of Hemlock. A loving and devoted wife and mother, she most especially loved spending time with her family. She also enjoyed cheering on the Detroit Tigers and MSU Spartans, traveling, polka dancing and trips to the casino. Surviving are her children: Melisa Brown, Thomas (Jance Greene) Thom, grandchildren: Branden and Christopher Brown as well as her partner of 27 years, Robert "Bob" Garrison, and his children: Jim (Debra) Garrison, Lenette (John) Ferguson, Ralph (Andrea) Garrison, daughter-in-law Cathy Garrison, and numerous other grandchildren and great-grandchildren, her sisters Victoria Meacham and Sandra Meacham, aunts Delores McLellan and Nora Paul, and her nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Carolyn was predeceased by her brother Donald T. Smith in 2010, and Bob's son, David Garrison in 2015. Funeral liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 2, 2016 at St. John XXIII Parish, St. Mary Catholic Church, Hemlock. Fr. Dennis Kucharczyk will officiate with burial at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in St. Charles. Friends may visit with the family at the W. L. Case and Company, 201 N. Miller Rd. on Friday from 2:00-8:00 p.m. where a vigil service will take place at 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday at church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider the wishes of the family.
