Berdella Irene LaPage

LaPage, Berdella Irene Saginaw, Michigan Berdella passed away Friday, August 30, 2013 at Hoyt Nursing & Rehab Centre, age 96 years. Berdella was born on the family farm in Brant, Michigan January 9, 1917, one of ten children born to William and Pearl (Palmer) Moore. She was preceded in death by her nine brothers and sisters, Beulah Willson, Vena Harmon, Blanche Webber, Lawrence Moore, Walter Moore, Ezra Moore, William Moore, Eva Arens and Kenneth Moore. Berdella moved to Saginaw, Michigan and married Joseph Clayton Lapage May 16, 1944. After Clayton's retirement from Consumer's Power Company, the two of them worked for the "Meals on Wheels" program for the City of Saginaw. Berdella and Clayton had two children, Douglas and Donald. Donald died an infant death in the hospital in 1953. Douglas married Susan Ann Pettet. Their children, Michael and Christina were the joy grandchildren bring to grandparents. Clayton and Berdella's love for Sue, Michael and Christina was uncompromising. She will be missed by her friends, her Moore family and most of all by her son, her daughter-in-law, her grandson and her granddaughter. The void she leaves is too large to be filled, but the memories and the example her life provided will light our way. Berdella and Clayton were members of the State Street United Methodist Church in Saginaw. They enjoyed serving the church in any capacity. Berdella lived her life praising God for every day and thanking Him for everything He provided. Berdella always believed and said: "I'm such a lucky woman." Berdella's funeral service will take place 12:00 noon Thursday, September 5, 2013 at State Street United Methodist Church, 3617 Mackinaw Rd. Rev. Elias Mumbiro will officiate with burial to follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit with the family at W. L. Case & Company, 4480 Mackinaw Rd. Wednesday from 4:00 9:00 p.m. and at church on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until time of the service.
