Passed away following a short illness on Monday, April 25, 2016 at the age of 85 years. The son of the late Claude and Sabria (Lacy) Rivers was born on March 9, 1931 in Saginaw, MI. He worked as a farmer and for Universal Engineering in Frankenmuth, retiring in 1992 after 40 years of service. Alvin cherished his time spent with family, friends and neighbors. Surviving are his brother, Howard (Dorothy) Rivers, 9 nieces and nephews: Sue, Howard Jr., Nancy, Linda, Pam, Keith Jr., Marie, Robert, Jeff and many great nieces and nephews. Alvin was predeceased by his brother Keith Rivers, Sr., and an infant sister, Nancy Rivers. Funeral service will take place at 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 29, 2016 at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 5700 Dixie Highway. Rev. Rob Richards will officiate with burial to take place later at Taymouth Township Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Chesaning Nursing Home and Rehab Center.
