Alan R. Sanders

Alan R. Sanders Saginaw, Michigan Formerly of Hemlock Passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 4, 2017, age 79 years. He was born on March 11, 1938, son of the late Reginald and Edna (Tretheway) Sanders, in Painesdale, MI. Alan served in the U. S. Navy. He married Janice Martin on July 2, 1966, she survives him. He was a member of St. John XXIII Parish, St. Mary Church in Hemlock and was very active within the parish. He attended Suomi College and was a graduate of Michigan Technological University and Michigan State University having earned a Bachelors and Masters degree in Business Administration and Education. He held numerous positions in the Hemlock Public School System and retired in 1995 as the districts business manager. Alan enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. He was an avid walker and was well known in the Hemlock community. Alan will be missed by his loving wife, Janice, his children, Maria Fitting, Margaret Sanders (Carl Castenair) and Martin Sanders; grandchildren, Gracie Fitting, Stratton Sanders and Marrissa Price; sister, Janet (Paul) Stetter; also many nieces and nephews, including his very special niece, Mary Emeott. He was predeceased by his brother, David Sanders, sister, Lois Jamsen, nephew, Michael Sanders and niece, Patty Jamsen. The Sanders family would like to thank the St. Francis Home for their loving care. Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at St. John XXIII Parish, St. Mary Church, 151 St. Marys Drive, Hemlock. Fr. Dennis Kucharczyk will officiate. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
