- Saginaw, Michigan - Passed away Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at his home, age 71 years. Tom was born in Saginaw, Michigan April 28, 1938 the son of the late Raymond and Carolyn (Manor) Thayer. He graduated from Saginaw High School in 1956 and obtained his Bachelor’s Degree from Michigan State University in 1960. He married JoAnn Beckley August 7, 1971 and she survives him. Tom was employed with Saginaw Steering Gear for many years, retiring in 1998. He enjoyed all sports, most especially golf. He also created stained glass projects. Tom loved spending his summers at Point Lookout and being able to play golf with his buddies at Huron Breeze. In addition to his wife, Tom is survived by five children, Thomas M. Thayer, Jr., Ann (John) Alfonsi, Amy (Charles) Radabough, Jody (Keith) Boutell and Jill (Jon Buckley) Thayer; five grandchildren, Lauren and Megan Alfonsi, Joey Radabough, Shya Thayer and Baylor Boutell; two brothers, Raymond M. (Ann) Thayer and Russell (Nancy) Thayer; several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will take place 12:00 noon Friday, January 29, 2010 at W. L. Case & Company, 4480 Mackinaw Rd. Rev. Dr. Robert L. Emrich will officiate with burial in Whitney-Sims Township Cemetery in AuGres. Friends may visit with the family Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
