- Hemlock, Michigan - Passed away Thursday, January 21, 2010 in Sebring, Florida, age 74 years. Charles was born in Saginaw, Michigan February 7, 1935 the son of the late Floyd and Marie (Gardyszewski) Prast. He married Jane Badour April 15, 1961 and she survives him. Charles served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Hemlock. He loved to hunt and fish. He was a proud member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 85 since 1953. Charles retired from General Motors in 1995. In addition to his wife, Charles is survived by two sons, Daniel (Elizabeth) Prast, Ann Arbor, MI, Timothy (Kelly) Prast, Merrill, MI; a daughter, Lori (Mike) Rybicki, Freeland, MI; eight grandchildren, Brendan Charles Prast, Megan Marie Prast, Vincent Charles Prast, Holly Nicole Prast, Joseph Michael Rybicki, Benjamin Anthony Rybicki, Leiya Marie Rybicki and Evelynn Ann Rybicki; his brother, Howard (Barbara) Prast, Hemlock, MI; two sisters, Constance (Thomas) Bauknecht and Dorothy (Dale) Milbrandt, both of Saginaw, MI. In addition to his parents, Charles was predeceased by a brother, Floyd James Prast. The funeral service will take place 11:00a.m. Thursday, January 28, 2010 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Hemlock. Rev. Fr. Steven Gavit will officiate with burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Hemlock. Friends may visit with the family at W. L. Case & Company, 201 N. Miller Rd. Wednesday from 2:00 – 9:00p.m. where they may join the family for a parish vigil service at 7:00 p.m. Friends may also call at church Thursday from 10:00a.m. until the time of the service.
