- Saginaw, Michigan - Passed away Thursday, January 21, 2010 at Cartwright Care Center. Age 73 years. The daughter of the late Harold and Doris (Call) Kirchner was born on September 28, 1937 in Freeland. She married Lester J. Ball on February 28, 1963; he predeceased her March 25, 1999. Mary had worked at Jacobson’s. She was a member of St. Helen Catholic Church, a lifetime member of the VFW post 1566, and the American legion of Las Vegas, and the Veterans of Foreign Affairs. She enjoyed knitting, crafts and spending time with her grandchildren. Mary was very committed to her family. Surviving are seven children and their spouses; Donald Ball, Victoria Smyth-Wintermeyer, Therese (Ronald) Mochty, Douglas (Cheryl) Ball, Joseph (Dana) Ball, Stephanie (Jeffrey) Patton, Scott (Deborah Davison-Ball) Ball, a daughter-in-law Karen Ball, 20 grandchildren; Michael Ball, Aliyah Ball, Dawn Boyle, Kathleen Smyth, Matthew Wintermeyer, Anthony Allison, Amber Allison, Rebecca Ball, Hannah Ball, Erik Ball, Stephen Ball, Jessica Valazza, Alyson Valazza, Lester Ball, Shelby Ball, Joseph Ball, Jordan Patton, Morgan Patton, Lindsay Patton, Taylor Davison and great grandchildren Lucy Ewell, Michaela Boyle, Nathan Boyle, her siblings; Carl, Richard, John, Dale Thomas, Brian, William, Jeffrey, Jim Kirchner, Margaret Kernstock. She was predeceased by a son Christopher Ball, her sisters Carolyn Livingston and Judy Sorrels. Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 25, 2010 at St. Helen Catholic Church, 2445 N. Charles St. Fr. Emmett Marceau will officiate with cremation to follow. Friends may call at the W.L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Rd. Sunday from 2:00-4:00p.m. and 6:00-8:00p.m. where the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post #1566 will conduct a memorial service at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday. Friends and family may then call at the church on Monday from 10:00a.m. until the time of the service.
