Raymond went to his Heavenly home that the Lord has prepared for him January 18, 2010, after a very long illness, age 71 years.
Ray was born in Sault Ste Marie, Michigan September 22, 1938 the son of the late Chester and Mildred (Anderson) Killips. He served two years in the United States Army during peacetime, during which he guarded Rudolf Hess at the Spandau Prison in Germany. He came to Saginaw in 1971 where he met and married Laurie LaMond in 1973. She survives him. He was a skilled tradesman for General Motors, Bay City Power Plant for over 32 years, retiring in 2000. His favorite times were spent with his grandchildren. He enjoyed TV sports and was a great fan of the Detroit Tigers.
In addition to his wife, Ray is survived by two sons, William Killips and his fiancée, Rebecca Nelson, Dave and Melissa Killips; two grandsons and one granddaughter, David, Miles and Emily Killips; a new grandchild due to arrive in July; Vanessa Northrup, who was like a daughter to him; three sisters and one brother, Donna (Tony) Gilbert, Betty and Larry Robinson, Marcia Killips, Bernie Killips and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, David, Ronnie and Joe Killips.
The funeral service will take place 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 21, 2010 at W. L. Case &Company, 5700Dixie Highway. Chaplain Carol Wesolek will officiate with burial in Pinegrove Cemetery, Bridgeport with military services under the auspices of VFW Post No. 1859, Carrollton. Friends may visit with the family at the chapel on Wednesday from 4: 00- 9:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 10:00 a.m.until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions maybe made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
