Passed away peacefully on Saturday July 13, 2019 at the age of 76 years. Josephine was born on March 19, 1943 to the late Leonard and Sara (Navarra) Mattano in Bay City, Michigan. She was a graduate of Midland High School, class of 1961. She later attended St. Mary’ Nursing Program and graduated as Registered Nurse in 1964.
Josephine practiced nursing for nearly 40 years. She spent much of her working years at St. Luke’s Hospital, now Covenant Healthcare as well as Heartland Home Health. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, watching Judge Judy and reading. Josephine especially loved to read mysteries and care for her cats; Bj, Boo- Boo and Chauncy.
She is survived by her children Jeffery N. Ceja and Mary C. (Eric) Nelson, and her grandchildren Ryan, Morgan (Koryna), Madison and Jeffery R. Ceja. Josephine is also survived by her siblings Roslynne Mattano, Kathy Ubaldi, Lee Palencar and Leonard Mattano.
A funeral service will take place at 1:00 pm on Wednesday July 17, 2019 at W.L. Case and Company, 4480 Mackinaw Road. Father Steve Gavit will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Andrews Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 11:00 am until the time of the service.
