Obituary

Hilda Marie Meyer (Seeger)
Marion Springs, Michigan
Lifelong resident of Marion Springs, Michigan, passed away Friday, March 1, 2019. Age 97 years.
The daughter of the late John and Anna (Wesener) Seeger was born February 11, 1922 in Marion Springs, Michigan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar H. Meyer and her four sisters,
Arlene Keenan, Laura Hiser, Cora Spiker, Eleanor Klembecki, and Bill’s beloved wife, Mary Carmen Caballero de Meyer.
Hilda is survived by her 6 children, Marlyn (Harold) Erskine; Tom (Susan) Meyer; Bill Meyer; Barbara (Kris) Cicinelli; Denise Meyer; Don (Eileen) Meyer and her devoted companion, Howard
Grider. She was the loving Grandma to 18 grandchildren and beloved G.G. to 24 great grandchildren.
Hilda retired from Dow Corning after 22 years of service. She is most known for her many hobbies, family activities, and accomplishments, including gardening, crocheting, wood working, motorcycle riding, hunting for morel mushrooms, family Christmas parties and her love of Coca Cola. Every grandchild has an afghan in his or her school colors, every granddaughter has a wooden cradle, every grandson, a treasure chest. No one left her house without a jar of homemade jam or pickles and a bouquet of flowers from her garden. She loved being outside in her yard and driving her tractors. Her generosity and hospitality were unmatched. She was very proud to live independently and still drove herself to bingo every Sunday and Monday night. She was also an avid fan of Merrill High School Vandals basketball, Michigan State University basketball and the Golden State Warriors. We will miss her sense of humor, her fierce independence, and her love and devotion to her family.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 6, 2019, at the W. L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel, in Merrill. Rev. Michael Vollmer will officiate. Friends may visit at the chapel from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider the Marion Springs Fire Department or the charity of their choice. www.casefuneralhome.com
