Edith Fenley
Saginaw, Michigan
Formerly of Merrill, Michigan

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away on Monday, July 8, 2019 at Covenant HealthCare - Cooper with her family at her side; at the age of 85 years. Edith Agathe Nieberle was born on November 25, 1933 in Munich, Germany; the daughter of the late Anton and Karolina (Lobner) Nieberle. She married the love of her life, James Edward “Jim” Fenley, in Munich, Germany during the time of his deployment in the United States Armed Forces; he survives her. Edith worked many years in sales and then a buyer for McDonald’s Nursery, worked as a real estate agent, then became the proud business owner of The Book Worm in Shields, Michigan. She was a very active member of the Eagles Club and the VFW. She would often volunteer her time at the Eagles Club and St. Francis Home as the leader of crafts. She was a big contributor of the Wounded Warrior Project and the Saginaw County Sheriff’s Department. She enjoyed cooking, knitting, crocheting and cross-stitching as she was very hands-on and a perfectionist with all of her beautiful blankets, knits, and crafts. She had fostered many children through Children International, as Edith loved everyone unconditionally. Above all, Edith always put her family first and cherished the time spent with her husband and with her loving family.

Surviving besides her husband of 68 years, Jim, are their children, Sandra (Ted) Lincoln, Karen Wiggins, Bob (Pam) Fenley, Mary (Nick) Morningstar, Deb (Jeff) Lawrence; grandchildren, Krista Robert, Ryan (Heidi) McEwen, Brent McEwen, Zack Morningstar, Nicole (Omar) Reyes, Samantha Lawrence, Sidney Lawrence, Dan (Nicole) Lincoln, Ryan Easterling, Ashley (Joey) Karpenko; great-grandchildren, Cameron Robert, Gavin Easterling, Mallory Karpenko, Gage Wrona, Hunter McEwen, Ryder McEwen, Laney Reyes, Macy Holmes, Theo Lincoln; sister-in-laws, Doris and Bernie Kalahar, Bev and Gary Stevenson. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Besides her parents, Edith is preceded in death by her sister, Inge (Bob) Bartellbort; brother, Michael Gabler; and brother-in-law, Bob Fenley.

Honoring Edith’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 18, 2019 at W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 201 N. Miller Road. Fr. Joseph Schabel will officiate with private burial at Pine Grove Cemetery. Friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday at the chapel. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider the Wounded Warrior Project.
